Charlie,
For what it's worth, in an earlier posting, you mentioned looking at Kodak EasyShare cameras....well, this time last year I bought one of those, and played hell for two weeks trying to get my computer to accept the software, even went on the net to download a newer software version, to no avail. Finally having enough of the frustration, I returned it and bought a Vivitar 3.3 megapixel for around $100 bucks, and it's been great, leading to a huge file on my computer of just about every motorcycle known to man......if you can't afford them all, might as well take pictures of them!
Good luck on your quest!

Hi Pat,
My brother-in-law has one and said he'd sell it to me when he upgraded.
He hasn't yet though because the Mavica is still a viable camera. Any
particular model I should look for (too many to choose from on eBay)?
Cheers,

Hate to be a ludite, but try and find an older Sony Mavica Floppy Disk
camera. I have other digital cameras for travel and portraits, etc., but

this is the one I grab for a fast problem solver. Reasonably idiot
free. What I like best is its instant ability to focus down to about
1.5" from an object. I can fill the entire picture with the tip of a
spark plug. Great for sharing a mechanical problems or fixes with
others. Easy to just run down to the garage, then back to the computer
and jam the floppy in for a quick e-mail.
