Charlie, I recommend you not get a cycle lift where you jack up the bike
from the middle, they are almost useless, in my opinion. Get one that you
roll the bike up onto and then lift the whole bike while it is standing on
its tires. Bob

Here's a few things I wonder how I ever lived without:

- Dremel Moto-tool - I started with a little battery powered one then
moved up to a nice digital set. Great for cutting off tool long screws,
removing powdercoat from places it shouldn't be, cleaning nooks and
crannies on Dellorto carbs, polishing hard to get at places, etc.
- digital caliper - bought one recently from Harbor Freight, great unit
for $15. Makes quick accurate measurements a breeze.
- "Sawzall" (reciprocating saw) - probably not a lot of uses on Guzzis
but invaluable most everywhere else. Not only good at cutting through
nails in studs during home renovation, but equally good at cutting
through exhaust pipes you don't feel like unbolting from a good engine
in a junk car.
- Battery tender - hook it up, plug it in, forget it. Simple right? Then
why can't my Ducati 907ie riding brother do it? :-)

A few I look forward to buying soon:

- a real table lift so I don't have to crouch or crawl around to change
the Ambo's oil, etc. Northern Tool has an air-hydraulic lift of the
other sort on clearance for $99 (item no. 14882-1515). Might consider
this one as a stop-gap measure. Hmm, maybe if I drop enough hints around
the house, I'll get one for my upcoming birthday.
- left-handed drill bits, Northern Tool has a 29pc. set in their latest
catalog for $27 (item no. 150273-1515). You know what happens when we
have a thread about something on this list (shift return springs) - it
soon infects other Loopers. Wanna' be prepared!
