Subject: Model plate..

I am sure this has been asked before:
What is a good way to take the riveted model plate off the steering
head.. I was hoping that the rivets are longer then the material
thickness so one could push them out a bit..
Is there a special procedure or tool that does not bend the plate when
taking the rivets out?
