I picked up a set of NOS Progressive Suspension shocks that are 13" eye
to eye. They are new in the box, but the owner does not know how old
they are, other than a date on the instruction manual showing 1991. My
questions are:
1. Is it bad to use NOS shocks that have been sitting in a box - I
believe in a closet. The chrome is like new and all seems to be OK per
the owners description. Would the seals hold up over time while in
storage?
2. The shocks are all chrome. Can I take the top and bottom chrome
covers off and swap them for black ones that are on my current set of
Progressives on the bike now? How do I get them off?
