Hi Ted,

You certainly don't have to pull the motor, but you do have to move it
forward in the frame. Also, you will need to remove lot's of stuff just
to get to it (tank, seat, battery tray, etc.). It can be done with the
swing arm in place, but you have a lot more playing room with the
swingarm removed.

I would count on about 2 hours to get everything apart and about 4 hours
for getting everything back together (YMMV). While you have it apart, I
would definitely look at replacing the rear main seal and the
transmission input shaft seal.

An old clutch hub and the correct sized bolt will help you line things
up much quicker and easier. But, these 'special' tools are not
absolutely necessary. I've found that they save me sufficient time to
warrant their expense (http://www.mgcycle.com/tools.html).

It's really not that difficult, just time consuming with all the body
work and fasteners that have to be removed/replaced.

I guess I'm gonna have to rebuild the clutch on my eldo. Looking for any

advice. I'd really like to avoid pulling the motor. The book says I can
scoot it forwards, anyone have thoughts?

How much time should this take?

Thanks
Ted
