Yes, the bike has Wixom bags and the hex nuts must be the hex spacer nuts
you mentioned. If I try to mount the luggage rack inside of the nuts, my
seat won't fit. I thought the nuts were on all loops (I mounted my grab
rails on the outside of the hex spacer nut).
Maybe I can mount it on the inside and leave off the grab rails. That might
be the trick. I'll give it a shot.
Thanks.
Ted

Hi Ted,
I'm not sure I follow you on the "two-sided nut". The rear attachment of
the grab rail and seat tab on all of my Loops is by a bolt going through
the rear grab rail hole, then a spacer, the seat tab, the frame tab and
finally a nut on the inside (closest the fender). Could it be that
someone had saddlebags on your bike and the "two-sided nut" was left
over from their mounts (some Wixoms had a hex spacer/nut that screwed
onto the top shock stud)? Also from the pic of the rack on MG Cycle's
site it looks like the grab rails may need to be removed? Best to call
Rick and Gordon and get the straight story from them. Cheers,

No, the problem is that the 2 rear mount holes are too close together. They are supposed to mount on the outside of the long 2 sided nut that holds the seat and the grab rails. I can't pull them any further apart because they are right next to the little welded cross bars. Know what I am saying? If not, I'll take a picture. ------ / |--------| |--------| (| |) <--- these mount holes are not far enough apart. | | (| |) Ted Ward ----- Original Message ----- From: Robert Hawkes To: Loopfram-@topica.com Sent: Friday, November 05, 2004 5:39 PM Subject: RE: MG Cycle luggage rack Ted, I bought a luggage rack for my 69 Ambo on Ebay. The first time I installed it I did an enormous amount of grunting and cursing. Now I can put in on, when I need it, in a fairly straight forward manner. Could it be that you just need practice, no kidding here, is it just a matter of getting used to what to button up first?? Bob |
