i too like the weird ducati (well not as weird as the indiana) paso - i
was wondering how they ran, and why they were so cheap
compartively....thanks for the info, maybe i'll get one someday...

 Bob,
Well, okay, I'll give you the Paso's are a bit "weird" looking
with the total fairing, but they're SO EASY TO WASH! Actually, they
are great performing and handling bikes with, basically, the 900SS
engine with added water-cooling for long life. The 906 came with
the troublesome Weber single carb like the 750 Paso and the same 16"
wheels. My bike's been changed over to dual 40mm Dellortos and taller
than stock tires. I also have bar risers that make it a very
comfortable all-day touring machine and with a killer 2 into 1
Italian exhaust system (very raspy) that makes it great fun to listen
to while you ride! The 907 came with 17" wheels and fuel injection
that was better than the Weber, but to me, the Dellortos are great.
These are probably one of the best high performance sport-touring
bargains on the market. The little 16" wheels make them very quick
responding - too quick for some folks. I'm told they will dump you
quick in gravel or sand, but haven't experienced that! Overall, I've
really enjoyed the bike. I guess it's going to have to go this
Spring, though. With the Ambo and the Daytona, I really can't afford
to keep 3 bikes insured and licensed!

Ducati. Bob

Hello everyone! Steve Hampton here - I too am a new member, but
it seems I'm far removed here in southwest Arkansas from the
mainstream Guzzi population! Like Charlie, I'm an Italian
motorcycle fan. I've owned a 1990 Ducati 906 Paso for many years
and early this year traded my BMW R1100S for a 1993 Moto Guzzi
Daytona. I love the Daytona more than any motorcycle I've ever
ridden - it's beautiful, it's fast, it handles great, it sounds
great, and for the first 45 minutes, it's heaven to ride - BUT on
a long trip it just KILLS my 56 year old body! That's why I
decided to buy my 1970 Ambassador - just last weekend - from a
fellow named William Griffith near here in Farmerville, LA. So
far, I've just been cleaning the bike up - have ordered a POR 15
kit for the tank that's leaked around the cap and bubbled the
paint up. The carburetors need cleaning and I'll retorque the
heads and adjust the valves, but the old gal runs pretty well, so
I hope to mostly just use it for local puttin' - at least until I
find a good old sidecar to add to it - and do a "rolling restoration".

I've really enjoyed the loop site - lots of expertise here
among the members! I've spent some time reading the archives to
avoid those dumb "what kind of oil / tires" questions.

Thanks for your time and hard work!

Steve Hampton
