Hi Bob,
Here's the deal with the relay for the starter (the same principles hold
for all relays).
I have a Bosch 0332019150 relay. It has 5 terminals on the back side.
Each terminal is labeled with a number -
The terminal numbered 30: This is the "power-in" terminal. In my case,
it hooks directly the "B+" terminal on my Bosch regulator. This is the
same terminal to which the battery positive wire is connected. You could
- if you wanted - connect this wire directly to the battery positive
terminal.
The terminal numbered 85: This is the "ground" terminal. I have a black
wire running from this terminal to one of the case bolts on my
transmission housing.
The terminal numbered 86: This is the "switch" terminal. I have a brown
wire running from this terminal to my starter button.
The terminal numbered 87: This is the "relayed" terminal. I have a red
wire running from this terminal to my starter solenoid.
The terminal numbered 87: This is a duplicate "relayed" terminal. I
don't have anything on this one, but I supposed I could hook up a very
loud siren or something stupid like that :>
When making your connections, use pretty heavy gauge wire (like 10
gauge) for the wires connecting to the regulator/battery and the starter
solenoid. You can use lighter gauge wire (like 16 gauge) for the wires
running to the starter button and the ground.
This schematic is also shown in the Guzzi wiring diagrams.
I have very large/easy to read versions on my website:

Carl Allison has since put together some nice ones as well on his
website:http://home.pacbell.net/guzzi007/sportissimo.html
Hope this helps!

Hey Greg, I thought I asked the list this question a few days ago but maybe it got lost. Where do you install your starter relay? Can I just splice it into the red wire that goes from the battery to the starter???? Bob |
