Bob,
There really isn't much to rebuild in these forks - just replace the
seal and see if any of the metal parts needs to be replaced. The best
things I've done so far are 1) replace the OE springs with a set of
progressively wound ones from Moto International; got a much smoother ride
2) put in 50 wt (70 wt in hot climates) motor oil instead of fork oil;
doesn't bottom out as much on rough roads.

Subject: FRONT FORKS-UPGRADE
I am now looking at projects to do this winter. Are there any write-ups
or web sites that step through rebuilding or upgrading the front shocks?
Mine bottom out on fairly rough roads, but other wise track straight and
not a lot of wobble until about 80mph. I'd like better handling so any
hints on replacement springs or mods is appreciated. No oil leaks so may
just replace the front fork oil. Is ATF the best way to go or should I
stick with a certain weight fork oil?
Thanks for any input.
