Hello fellow loopers, long time no chat!
As Cam mentioned in a post not too long ago, I've been through 2 bikes
since Patience and I parted ways. One was a sweet 78 R100S coverted to
an RS, and the other was an 03 Honda Shadow Ace, nice looking bike but
definitely lacked that European feel. A guy from work bought the Honda
a few weeks back and the BMW was sold about a year ago. Needed the
dough to pay off a bill and for home improvement stuff which kinda takes
priority over my toys. This past week I took possession of, I mean, Cam
took possession of one sweet deep green 74 Eldo from Mark Ethridge
(which I have named Froggy) and sold Ellie. Looking over Froggy, the
loop lust took over me. Damn these are great looking machines! For a
moment, I missed Patience, but then the whole saga she led me through
woke me back up. Got top dollar for her, so it's all OK.
At this point in time, I would like to take on a nice winter project
bike since I have minimal dollars and already am feeling the jitters of
not having a cycle in the garage. Cam is trying to hook me up with his
friend whom has a 70 or 71 BMW R75/5 that has been sitting in his garage
for 10 years. Sounds like something up my alley since I have owned 5
Beemers and know how to wrench them for the most part. If the deal
doesn't work out (his friend is not sure if he wants to sell it and for
how much), I would really like to find another loop, Ambo or Eldo, since
I now know what it takes mentally and financially to restore one. I
really like the looks and character of the Guzzi more than the Beemer,
but if the deal is right, I will jump on that R75. In the meantime,
does anybody know of or have a loop in need of restoration? Another
"Patience" so to speak? Like I said earlier, I don't have alot of cash
to offer, but if someone has a loop that has been sitting in the corner
wasting away for several years, Keith Ruff in NJ would love to bring her
back to life! Send me an e-mail if you know of a loop whom wants to
join me in the garage this winter for some coffee, wrenching and
conversation!
Thanx!
