I think someone may have had my '72s four-speed trans apart before and
forgot to put a few bits back in. The little ball that's supposed to
keep the speedo drive gear from spinning on the output shaft was
missing, but luckily I found one in my stuff.
However there is a "washer, adjusting" (#42 on Plate 9 of the Ambo part
manual) that may be gone. Does said washer fit between 1st gear (#43)
and the output shaft bearing or between the bearing and the speedo drive
gear? In other words, after you remove the ringnut (#39), it's locking
washer (#40), the spacer (#41) and speedo drive gear (no number?) from
the output shaft, should there be a washer next on the shaft? Thanks,
