Hi Mike,
Mine turned out to be just a too long generator belt riding out on the
edge of the pulleys and rubbing the timing cover. Should have noticed
the clearance problem when I installed it but didn't. Put another
(shorter) belt on and the squeak went away, but I do still have some
bearing noise from the gen. that will need attention soon (although I
said the same thing three years ago).
Hope to have my '72 Ambo on the road before the end of the riding season
(probably just in time for the first snow), so the old '69 will get some
rest and thorough check-over. It has a cyclic vibration at 60mph that is
getting worse and it may be time for a u-joint - guess you can't expect
one to last much more than 78,000 miles! Cheers,
Charlie

Charlie, you mentioned a while back that your generator is also squeeking. Have you done anything about it? Mine is getting louder and I am worried. |
