Last week I wrote asking the list for a spare dist (Ray, you gonna sit
on yours?) because I wanted to play around with the advance curve. I
fitted a loop-converted T-Bike engine into my bike, replacing the dual
point dist with a single point unit. I'd like to modify my single point
to mimic the dual point curve, because it seems I hear some pinging, my
plugs sort of indicate it, and the bike runs up against a brick wall
above 4000 rpm in top gear when driving into a head wind or climbing
hills....more throttle = more noise with very slow acceleration.
Comparing the curves between the 850T & an Eldo, the Eldo is way out in
front; the greatest difference between the two occuring at 2500 rpm
(Eldo about 8 deg advanced from 850T). I recieved a new set of single
point replacement springs and they appear to be as OEM, i.e., one made
from thick wire with a loop end, and one thin wire-haven't gotten around
to installing them yet. A couple guys have mentioned replacements that
are different from OEM-have any of you mapped out the curve attained
with the non-oem replacement springs?
Patrick, you mentioned loose intake guides passing trace ammounts oil
into the combustion chamber - is it enough to show up on a spark plug?
How about by an inspection down the intake on the back side of the
valve?
Appreciate any & all insights-thanks!
