Sorry I was not able to weigh in on the timing problem. Using a
protractor a Dremel and a old CD-R that my wife scratched, I was able
to make a better degree wheel and once I verified TDC on sinister
piston, manufactured something that bolted right up to the pulley mount.
I used the little saw thing to put little notches in the disc at exactly
the right degree points, which beat using a sharpie. I had set
everything correctly a long time ago, but learned a valuable lesson,
when you bolt the pulley halves on in reverse order, the marks that you
put on so patiently long ago make you wonder if you were somehow smoking
crack the last time you worked on the motor. I got plenty of exercise
kicking myself for not checking the pulley order first. By the way,
could somebody post a part number for the super degreaser? My cast
aluminum looks icky and I'm not patient enough to polish. Many thanks.
