You might not hear it on the center stand because there is no actual
load on the tranny at that point. Could be that under load something is
binding inside. Worth checking out.

Something in there? I would pull the tranny and have a look inside. Easy
enough to do (even though it is a pain to have to pull the
engine...again) but the cost of a new tranny or components makes it
imperative to investigate.

Hello everyone.



I did a jury rig repair of the forward layshaft nut which had
chewed through the transmission case. After I reinstalled my
transmission, it seems to shift fine when on the center stand, but when
I ride it, it makes a grinding noise when I try to shift (as it passes
through neutral), or even just moving from first into neutral and
coasting. The sound isn't constant, just every few seconds. The other
symptom is the neutral light now stays on constantly. Anybody got any
ideas?
