Ray, I think there may be more distributer spring
options then the books mention. My ambo came with a
spring that was thicker wire then the other, looked
chrome plated, and had an elongated loop on one end.
When I posted to the list about this a few years back,
someone else replied that they had similar springs and
that changing them to the 8/9 coil springs typically
found affected the performance. I switched to the
8/9's, which solved my pinging problem but seemed to
slow aceleration as well. Not being a real
perfectionist, I let it go at that, but had I to do it
over I would look harder for springs that duplicate
what was in the bike when I got it. (I assume that the
pinging was caused by them being stretched rather then
them being an improper application.)
