Subject: Was Replacement Cap; Now Cap Gasket Split

I have recently looked at 4 different "captured civilian" caps and they
all had the same deficiency; the rubber gasket was split and there was a
1/4 inch gap where fuel looks like it will leak past in huge volumes. It
looks like the cap can be disassembled and the gasket replaced. I just
found it odd that all 4 of the caps I looked at had split gaskets that
looked identical, like that's the way they were made. Couldn't be
though, because they would all leak like a sieve.
Seems we may have talked about this a couple years ago - time to do a
search.
For whatever it's worth,
