When I got my 72 Eldorado it had been sitting for a few years, not near as
long as yours though. My engine was locked up as well. I put some WD40
(liquid, not spray can) in the plug holes and let it sit for a couple of
days. I then worked the engine around a little at a time with a wrench on
the front pulley nut. At first it would only move a fraction of an inch but
over a few days I got it to turn all the way around a full turn. I did not
force it I just worked it a little each day. After several days it would
turn smoothly and I pulled the heads to inspect and begin repairs. I have
been running mine now for a couple of years with no bottom end problem. I
never did take the bottom end apart and all seems to be OK. You need to get
it moving if possible before taking it apart (it helps prevent damage during
disassembly). Hope this helps. Good Luck.

hi gang!
finally got around to messin' with the 'new' V-700, and discovered that the
engine is set up. this bike only has 01539 miles on it but has been parked
since 1972. i dumped some atf down the spark plug holes, to no avail. next
step- fill the engine with kerosene thru the head oil returns. what do ya
reckon is froze up? normally, if one of these chrome-bore babys sits around
for awhile, the chrome flakes away from the bore, and rides up and down with
the pistons, ya know? maybe a main bearing? why? why does it seem like i
have been here before? :>O
your comments/idears are appreciated. thank you, thank you. [hat off, and
in hand].
