Charlie,
I think you may be able to modify a loopframe crank pulley
hub to work on a tapered nose crankshaft. You would need to machine the
hole in the hub to match the taper. You could use a lathe & cut the
taper in the bore using a boring bar, or perhaps you could get a tapered
reamer to match the taper on the crank - I'd still use a lathe to hold
everything straight. Don't worry about the keyway-not needed.
The trick is to turn/ream the taper to the correct depth so
that your belt stays aligned. Or you could spend the $120 & be done with
it.
Good Luck!

I have a Cali 2 engine in my Eldo. I bought the crank adapter from Mark at Guzzi Classics. Worked like a dream. As for the gen bracket holes. I marked the drill bit depth by measuring the old hole in the old block with a tooth pic. I tool a punch and marked the center of the bosses. Then using a variable speed drill, slowly drilled the holes until I reached the depth marked with a piece of tape wrapped around the drill bit. I then installed a set of studs with loctite rather than using bolts. I mounted the bracket using locknuts with nylon inserts. So far so good. I intend to use the Ambo timing cover and generator instead of the stocker cover and alternator. Here are my questions: 1. Did you use the Teo Lammers crank adapter from Moto International to mount the pulley to the front of the crank? Is it of decent quality reflecting the now $120 price? Eyeballed the situation this evening and it looks like I could use an Eldo crank sprocket and stock pulley adapter if I could figure out how to keep the pulley from spinning on the tapered nose of the Convert crank. Some sort of chemical locker maybe. 2. How did you drill the bolt holes in the top of the case for the generator bracket - just eyeballed it, used a jig of some sort or? I'd really like to get them straight! Thanks in advance, Charlie http://members.tripod.com/charlesmullendore/index.htm =========================================================== Your opinion counts!
