I guess it's time for me to confess here. Les is buying my Ambo. |
And happy I am about that too! Besides, it's much easier to type Darrell
than it is "the fellow I'm buying the Ambo from"... :-)
Another case of Mike's web page being a great way to sell your bike. Of course, I think that Mike was actually doing some pitching in this case. Looks like I owe you a commission, or at least a beer or two. Thanks, Mike. |
It's not actually all that easy to find a particular bike if you're not "in
the know" and/or already know who to talk to. An eBay and Cycle Trader
popped up some possibilities but nothing like I got from Mike's site with
the great photos and description. And I had Mike to talk to as well, which
really helped.
Since I posted here I received many emails from folks right here in my
neck-of-the-woods with all sorts of offers for help and information. What a
great community! I'm so looking forward to getting out on the road this
summer and getting to meet some of you.
Hopefully, I'll be a little more motivated to work on my LAPD Eldo now. I'll be putting some miles on my Convert this summer too. |
Les, the serial number for your "new" bike is 23959. It was built in May 1971. It is definitely a push button starter. |
Hey, great...thanks for that info! Sort of an alignment of the planets
going on here...that's when I graduated from high school (May 1971)!!!
Spooky...
