Hey man,
I know about the washer.. and care was taken everytime I had to deal with
the speedo drive, but I still don't know anything about a ball bearing. I
guess this is something the could be "set free" with just the gear removed?
Hmmm, could that explain why the bike has a taste for speedo cables?
Not to sound like a bratt, but I'm surprised I don't know this.... I know
everything.....I hate surprises. damn it.
Kev

Hey Kev...nope, it is a four speed Ambo tranny. There is a small steel
ball that acts as a key in a channel/keyway to secure the speed drive worm
gear onto its shaft. I don't know if a 5 speed uses one or not. This midwest
winter sucks bad this year...almost too cold to get into the garage to work
on Dreamcycle. Cheers, Brett
