*** The jet sizes listed were in a 850T. An V850 shows a 45 pilot jet
so you already have a richer jet installed so good so far. Are you lean
at low rpms? ...try a higher number. Have you rebuilt and cleaned out
the carbs good?
My Ambo runs lean at 4000+ rpms...the pipes turn blue and I'm only using
1/3 throttle. The main jet does not add fuel until 2/3+ throttle so I
found that was a waste of time trying a larger main.
I marked my throttle at 4000 rpms when riding. I pulled the airbox and
turned the throttle to that point and marked the needle inside the carb
throat. I chucked the needles in a drill and with 400 wet/dry
sandpaper, narrowed a small section below that mark to richen up the
fuel flow at that throttle setting. Take off too much and the motor
will sputter from too much fuel. If that happens try raising the the
needle or you need to find another needle.
I did this slowly until the pipes stabilized in color.
