On the plus side you then have a trip odometer and the calibration
should be close to correct, on the minus side you'll have to figure out
where to fit the "idiot" lights. I thought about mounting a panel/box
above the speedo for the lights (like you see on some pics of early Loop
police bikes).

The Harley-type speedos are a slightly larger diameter (approx. 1/8")
and will fit in the police dash with a little alteration, but you may
not have room to fit one to the single-pod civilian dash as they fit
pretty close to the stock speedo housing. Cheers,

 Uh, I have a harley aftermarket one in mine (a la D. Otis). Hey, it
works. Reads slow, though. You would need to recalibrate.
