OH, TOMMY, my list is long. I'd be happy to match dumb stories with any of you. |
My dumb story:
You know how hard it is to see new oil on the chrome dipstick, right?
After letting the Eldo warm up I decided I better check the oil level,
and I couldn't see any oil register. It was full, I just didn't know it.
So, in great haste, I grabbed a funnel and a quart of oil, poured the
quart of oil into the crankcase, then removed the funnel to check the
oil again. Can you say 'Exxon Valdeese'?. The overflow of oil poured all
over the bike and floor. What a mess. It ain't good to panic, or check
the oil in the (kinda)dark....
Solution: Heat the dipstick with a tourch and turn that chrome blue,
like a header pipe. Easier to read that way!
Or,
Use a paper towel to check the amount. Just lay the dipstick on the
paper, and look for the wet area.
