I'd thought I'd post this as an "it could happen to you" msg.
A month or so ago I put on a generic VW-type voltage regulator on my
Ambo (a substitute for the Bosch system). Works fine, but the screw
holding the sheet metal cover on the unit loosened up. Postive met
negative, and a 16 ga ground wire fried/melted as though it were a fuse.
Fortunately nothing expensive got damaged, but I think I was lucky.
After re-assembly, the voltage regulator got a few drops of JB weld to
keep the screw from backing out again.
You might want to check this.
