Hi, all. I have been meaning to metion this for a
whiole, but don't think I ever did: Harper's now
carries a replacement for the stock throw-out bearing
on the 4-speed tranny. It is a needle-type thrust
bearing, and runs between two washer-like races. I
have run one like this for 20,000 miles - it is a nice
easy fix for the old short-lived caged ball bearing.
Cost is under $20.
Question: why did the factory switch from using pipes
for the external oil lines (loop frames) to using
hoses (newer bikes: Tonti's, etc)? The pipes seem like
a more trouble-free approach to me.
