The brackets themselves have a tendency to crack, the bolt holes holding the
bracket to the engine case get reefed out and finally the dowel pin hole in
the case get reefed out also. The generator spins off the crank so of course
you don't want it moving around causing all sorts of other problems.

Like "Jesse Open" said, very poor design. Some folks make a 2nd bracket.
This attaches to the gen. mount bracket to some other point on the engine
case, usually to the distributor mount. The bracket has to be made to help
relieve some of the torque on the generator.
Anouther way to help this is to drill the mount holes deeper, heli-coil (in
my case, I'm trying time-serts) the holes. Then put studs in the holes
instead of bolts. Red locktite just about everything (f-it, I think I will
JB weld instead, there's no reason to remove the studs, once in) Then cap
the studs off with ny-locks and lock washers to hold the bracket.

This sounds like something I should know about.....what's up with this
