It is possible that you have another bad regulator. Have heard from a
few people that it is possible to get a brand new bad regulator. With
the bike running, put your meter on the battery and rev the bike to see
if you get an increase in voltage. If no increase then try replace the
regulator again. Do you have a marelli or bosch system?

...or is it? The gen light on my Ambo is staying on (the bike was recently put together from pieces so there's no history of what works/doesn't work). The battery drains after running for a while, lights are dim. I put on a new voltage regulator, no change, or at least the light stays on. I take the generator off the bike, put it in a vise, jumper the DF and D-, connect voltmeter (-) to the DF/D- and (+) to D+. Spin the pulley using an electric drill & a socket. I get 16.5 V. Seems as though this should be enough to charge the battery, but I don't know enough about these systems to know. Any ideas on what's causing the problem? Frustration mounting, Rich A |
