Hey Indy,
I guess you don't remember-we discussed this when we tore
down that hopeless project of yours (Dreamcycle-HA!) to parade rest.
I've been told by a reliable source that Buchannon's has a tool-some
sort of flange roller machine- that they use to straighten out bent
rims. It requires that you send the rim only, unlaced from the hub.
Locating a 16" Borani might be a little tough, but I think there are new
flanged alloy rims available from Buchannon, perhaps Central Wheel in
England too, that are a pretty good match.
A couple years back there was some chatter on this list from a few
folks that had 16" rims laced to Guzzi hubs. The consensus at that time
was that it had a negative effect on handling. Of course, what
difference would that make to you? You & the "Popsicle" can only hope to
keep my tail light in sight next year at Mid-Ohio!
To the list: IndyDiamond & I have a friendly competition going
on-to see who can build the beter LoopFrame starting with rust buckets
for next year's Mid-Ohio event. All the banter is in good fun. He's a
great guy but really could use lots of help! ;)

Hey group.....the future dreamcycle (rustbucket 71 hybrid) has a bent rear Borani rim...looks like somebody hit a pothole a bit fast years ago...no kink, just bend. Can these be straightened? or do I replace...if I replace would like to go with Borani at 16" so can fit a whitewall with arrow the right direction! Any and all help welcome...thanks, Brett in Indiana |
