Nice to see another one come over from the Wildgoose List.
I agree with the others about the source of the leak. That is also the reason the hole is there, to let fluids drain from that cavity.
I had a leak from the front trans seal that allowed gear lube to get onto the clutch plates. I believe it was because I over filled the trans.
