HI,
I'm posting this question again, hoping someone can help me. Yes, I did
search the archives and although this was sort of addressed, these
specific questions didn't seem to be. I've also read Guzziology and the
Chilton but they don't answer them either. Thanks.

I took apart and cleaned the oil pressure relief valve today on my '73
Eldo. Guzziology mentions this having thin shims inside to set the
spring load. Mine has none. Should I be concerned? I did ride the bike
but only about 20 miles before tearing it down and didn't think to run
an oil pressure test. There's a lesson for the next time.

Also, at the bottom of the valve there is a small diameter hole going
crosswise through the plunger. This lines up with the cutaway in the
housing. Is there a proper alignment for this hole? It's drilled in a
groove machined into the plunger. Certainly it is for oil but is the
direction of the hole important? Should I be able to see it (the hole)
through the cutaway or should it be hidden by the housing?

I also have a questions about con rod nuts. The book mentions lock
washers that fold over the nut after torqueing. Mine had no washer at
all. I have the conrods with no oil hole. Suggestions?
Thanks.
