Yeah sure Dennis. Get out the screw driver and make some scratches in those
shiny bags. You can pull the latches from the Wixoms and I can send you some
20 cent bungee cords to hold the lids on. Let me see....maybe stop cleaning
the darn thing and then you can be right up there with us :-)

Good seeing you again. Are you coming to the Blue Ridge Rally? I am thinking
that we should have a Sat afternoon Loop ride into Waynesville to pick up a
bag of Matchlight, steaks and beer. Does anyone know if there are grills at
the campground?

Yes, Andrew me boy, you should've. You know about the notorious
reliability
problems of those newfangled motorcicles. I was disappointed to hear that
you wouldn't be making it when I arrived at the rally. Forget now whether
Charlie or Ian told me that you had problems with the Sport. I
haven't seen
you since I can't remember when. Get somethin' running will ya?
I'll be at
the Ohio Rally and the Maryland Rally for sure, and probably the Mid-Ohio
Vintage weekend. Don't know what else. It was good to see Ian
and Charlie
and Joe Kenney & Pat Galbreath again, and Ian's friend Ed, who had a nice
black Eldo. Makes me think I ought to paint the old Eldo and get up to
their level.

 Hey All,

Well....what can I say. Another great rally put on by Ron and Alice.
They

make it look easy.....but I know a lot of work goes into one of these
events. What amazes me is how these two keep smiling through the whole
time....an inspiration for this rally "wannahave".

All told....150 were in attendance...about 10 Loops I think.
I received

oldest bike awards and Ed received People's Choice. Saw the new Breva
courtesy of Winchester Motorsports. Had a chance to meet up with
familiar

faces and met some new ones.

Total mileage for the old 69 Ambo was 1139 miles. Not bad for
a 33 year
 old
bike. She never missed a beat and scooted along the I-state
pretty well.

The Tech Tip learned from this rally is:

When your bike quits....make sure that the points are
opening. Ed's bike

quit in Asheville and although we never check the point gap I
did check
 the
condition of the points. They even sparked on me! However the points
were
 on
the low part of the lobe so I never thought they would have slipped. I
thought the problem was the coil and fetched a new one only
to find the
 same
problem. Reinspected the points and this time (as luck would have it)
the

points were on the high part of the lobe and not open. AHHH
HA!! Took a

screw driver.....reset the points to .017. The bike fired and we were
off.

Took us three hours to isolate and fix a 15 minute problem.
The positive
 on
this is that this only happens once to a person. I have never seen
points

slip after riding 150+ miles. I will be sure to expect the unexpected
rather
than to "think" I know what the problem is. The screw on the
points was

still tight too. I don't know how they slipped but after
correcting the

problem the bike ran well for the remainder of the trip.

On a sad note: Andy...I heard your bike crapped out on you. Sorry to
have

missed you....I had a couple of beers in your honor :-) You
were missed.

On a positive note: The Blue Ridge Rally is a month away.
After hitting
my

first rally of the year I am lusting for another one. Folks.....you
likely

missed the best rally on the "right coast". Don't miss the second best
on

Aug 1,2,3 :-) My only dilemma is what bike to take this rally....

Good seeing you all at that rally. I hope to see you all again in
Caruso.
