Subject: Quick trip
I had a buddy email me saying he needed a rear drive for his Guzzi which I happened to have. He said he'd swap an Eldo motor for it (sans heads)I left work yesterday at 3:30pm out of Richmond, IL on the raT-3, slabbed it hard and was at his house south of Council Bluffs, IA by 11pm. A smidgen over 500 miles. I unloaded the rear drive and mounted the Guzzi motor on a temporary rack mounted behind the solo seat. 7 bungee cords later and all was secure. They put me up for the night and I was back on the road by 6am. This time it was US34 east to Iowa 14 north to Iowa 92 east. All nice through there. Then Iowa 1 through Iowa City and up to Iowa 64 which goes into US52 near the IL border. The Savannah, IL area looked great. I took US 52 east until it curved south and ended up on an eastbound farm road. Went north and west on several roads, a few scenic and a few long and straight but still better than the freeway the night before. Cut through Rockford slowly because of traffic and took the McHenry county backroads that I know by heart to put me back in Wonder Lake, IL. Mileage was almost identical. I was back by 3:15pm so a tad over 1000 miles in the last 24 hrs. Here's a couple of pics of my twin engined T-3 http://groups.msn.com/JohnBoettcher/heavyload.msnw?Page=Last If that doesn't work go here and click on heavy load http://groups.msn.com/JohnBoettcher/shoebox.msnw JB |
