It wasn't Allen that wrote that - it was me! My vehicles that came originally with electronic ignition (all of the four-wheeled variety) have also been totally reliable ignition-wise, but we are talking Guzzis here. I had a Dyna III fail which left me with a 500cc '86 LeMans for about 20 miles in rush-hour traffic. Put the points back in and never thought about electronic ignition in a Guzzi ever again (maybe if I had a small-block Guzzi). A condenser is cheap and easy to replace, a spare is always in my right toolbox. Don't think it would be too cost effective to carry a spare electronic ignition, so when it fails I guess the old reliable points get reinstalled. I clean/gap my points and set the timing once a year (approx. every 10,000 miles) which takes at most 30 mins. and costs nothing. Different strokes for different folks, though! :-) Cheers,

Charlie
