Back in 79 when I had just graduated high school I took a trip to six flags GA. During the trip back was stopped by a thunderstorm, it was over quickly the air was cool the roads were dry. I was riding a 750 ambasador. with about a 100 miles to go I got on I-20 to Augusta and quickly got it up to an indicated 115Mph, this bikes top end. About 20 miles on I slowly overtook an 18 wheeler that was easily doing a 100, when I caught the draft from this truck and passed it I was doing an indicated 145 the tach was well into the red line and I held this speed until I reached the Augusta exit. The goose was a great bike no more, the next day after starting the ambo and hearing the damage. 3 Bent pushrods, shattered rings both pistons, and the cylinders scored. Moral Great ride but not worth destroying the best running guzzi I ever owned.

What a dumb question but here it is.What is the top speed you have attained on your eldo?Ive had mine up to an indicated 100 up around 5000 rpm, seems like plenty of pulling power left to go.I know the speedo is optimistic, and the tach kinda iffy too.Motor seems to just want to keep on pulling. The bates fairing makes it wobble like a tin scooter with too small wheels at high speed. When i come up behind a tractor trailer at around 80,the bike weaves back and forth as i get into the draft behind the rig.Just an observation i thought i would share.respond or ignore, whatever.Scott K
