Well I finally got out for a decent ride yesterday. It was mid 80s in
Detroit. Only a week after experiencing the worst ice storm in 25 years.
It sure felt great. I didn't get home until 5:30 or so and I thought I
would take a short 25 mile ride or so. The weather was so nice and the
Ambo was running so good that I didn't get back until almost dark! The
old girl was running pretty much flawlessly. The few maintenance chores I
performed a couple of weeks ago worked out great too. I fixed the broken
generator mount (studs and epoxy putty reinforcement), put on new cables,
and lubed the splines. The front brake feels really pretty good after
replacing the raggedy cable. I didn't think I was going to like the cable
it really feels squishy with the brake light switch. But, the bike sure
stops better. Someday, I think I'll make up my own cable without the
switch.
As far as indicated speed the Ambo does about 85 just keeping up with
traffic. 100 is no problem. Makes me feel fast! The tach isn't too
accurate either. I guess I could put a bicycle speedo on it, but I'm not
really worried about it.
