Finally getting the Ambo together, and have some questions (all on a
'71):
Looks like I might have some damaged threads on the right swing arm
mount hole. Even with the swingarm removed, I can only get a few turns
on the swingarm spindle on that side. Anyone know what size/pitch the
swingarm spindle hole is? Might need to run a tap down it.
I replaced the steering head bearings and when I installed the bottom
triple tree and bearings, the bearing adjustment nut and lockring do not
go down past the threads. That is, some of the lockring is above the
larger threaded section on the top of the steering stem. Is that normal?
I didn't pay enough attention when I disassembled. Looks like the
bearings are the same size (box says Timken 30205M 9KM1). Races are
definately seated all the way in the neck.
What is the deal with pulling the fork tubes into the top triple tree?
Is the factory tool available? Have people been making them from old top
bolts? Is there an easier trick I can't see?
