My apologies. I just placed my tap up against the threads...looks like it is
an 8 x 1.

Thanks for the note.
I tried my 8X1.25 die on it and it dint go. I took an "impression" (hold
white paper against the threads and run your nail accross to show the
tops of the threads on the paper) and will take it to a machinist buddy
to get the threads per mm. The shaft size is 5/16 (8mm). My guess is
8X1.0

Yah hey dare Loopers,
The 74 LAPD engine is going back together (whoooo haaaaw). Today's
dilemma is associated with the oil pump nut. It appears toitem #33 inoff and nut'n I can find appears to fit. (part # 92 70 10865/16. Looksthe hymnal).
What size / thread is that #$%^& nut? My caliper says it'sof my dieslike a 8mm. Is it possible that it's SAE? I tried all (both)don't want to(8mm 1.0 and 8mm 1.25 I think) and they don't fit right (Icut the threads).
Can anyone help me out here? Sure would appreciate it.
