If only one cylinder is not firing....the problem is not your coil.

I know this is annoying but my ambo is not firing, again, on the starboard
side (de javue all over again). Battery may need replacing again, as this
is what seem to cure it last time but..........
Do you guys clean your old spark plugs or just go out and buy new ones?
Also, if coils go bad, and I see by this list that they seldom do, do you
get OEM coils or old VW coils or what? If it costs too much for OEM then
how do you know that a VW or a Kmart coil is right for your ambo? Thanks,
