Bryan,
Sure sounds like your solenoid is sticking inside in the 'on' position.
I think that you can unsolder that wire to gain access to the inside
solenoid goodies. The solenoid needs to travel back and forth inside
the cylinder easily so clean both the solenoid and the inside housing.
Do not use any grease since over time, will just gum up the works and
you'll be back where you started. Everything should be nice and dry.

Tried to start my Ambo and it cranked a few times, but when I let go of the starter button it did not stop. Sounded as if the solenoid just kept activating then smoke came out of the starter. Now it just clicks when I hit the button. Took the starter motor apart and cleaned everything up, Put it back together and the starter activated just fine, even better than before. Then the same thing happened. I did not take the solenoid apart. It appears that there is a wire that is preventing that but with a little work could get it apart too. Any ideas. Bryan 71 Ambo |
