Started up the Eldo too on Sunday for the first time since December. A
little choke, and she turned right over. Gave a some throttle, and the
backfire sounded like the OK Corral. Typical until she warms up for me.
What does cause this?

I'll weigh in here with a guess that it has to do with your points. When they sit over the winter, they sometimes get kinda corroded, especially if they happened to have stopped in the closed position when you last shut it down. A little condensation in the distributor cap can have a similar effect, as can a short in a plug wire or perhaps a bad sparkplug. Time for a tuneup! John Prusnek
