It's a good thing Mick Walker warned everyone...more
for me to buy for peanuts...yep, all 75k miles I've
driven on my two coverts...um, converts...I just keep
thinking how much I miss shifting...let's see...0 to
105 mph with no shifting...yeah, that's awful, ain't
it?....charging problems are solved by the usual
electrical troubleshooting, just like all
guzzi's...torque converters are never repaired cuz
there ain't nothing to fix....the FLYWHEEL on the
earliest ones broke, too thin...so they fixed them
with a 12 lb boat anchor that, guess what?...makes for
one of the smoothest running Guzzi's ever...good for
TOURING....yeah, whatever you do, don't touch a
Convert...it leads you off the straight and narrow
path...just call me if you ever see one for sale and
I'll remove it from the premises...I think total
production 76-80 was 2600 bikes, and yet, I can
personally vouch for seeing 20 of them here in
Conn....with K&N filters, Bub mufflers, proper timing,
and leaving it in low range, I know you got a lotta
fun for a lotta miles...you need to drive them like
Mom's station wagon...put your wrist thru it to wind
up the slop box torque converter till it reaches full
lock up and you'll be surprised....say, I believe Mr.
Richardson, author of our esteemed Guzziology, speaks
directly about his Convert, and Converts in general,
in that book....

 Hello all,

What is the truth on Converts. I see a fair number
of them for sale. I
think in Mick Walker's buying guide he says to avoid
them, I believe for
complicated, unreliable electronics. Truth?
