One thing that comes to mind is to look for Convert stuff. I'm guessing
that the Ford will probably produce more torque at lower RPMs that the
typical Guzzi. The Convert has a higher rear end ratio. It would probably
be a good idea to do the math. The other good news is that the parts are
typically much cheaper, since they are mostly only useful to 'Vert geeks
(like me). You could always use the auto tranny too, but that probably
isn't what he is looking for. A 4 speeder would probably be the ticket.
Again, it would probably be a good idea to work out the ratios with the
torque characteristics of the power plant.

Good Luck!

A friend of mine is working on building a custom flathead V-8
motorcycle; these have been done already and are pretty neat, using
a
1939 small block Ford engine. They were popular for those little
midget
racers of the era.
I've convinced him that a Guzzi rear end is the way to go, now I
have
to find one for him. What we need is everything from the tranny
back:
transmission, swingarm, rear end, wheel. He may be interested in
buying
a whole parts bike if the aforementioned parts are in good shape.
The
engine is a non-issue.
I know someone out there has what we're looking for. Gimme a
holler.

Thanks!
