It is with great sadness that I bring the news of the passing of a
fellow Guzzi rider. Here's the obituary from the "Frederick News-Post"
slightly shortened.

"Frank Brewer, 77, of near Middletown, MD, died Sat., Feb. 8th at
Western Maryland Hospital Center of injuries sustained in an automobile
accident in October.

Born April 11th, 1925 in Warren, OH he was the son of the late Richard
Harrison and Mary D. Dunlap Brewer.

Frank was a 1942 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren,
OH. He attended Ohio State University for two years, then joined the
U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was trained as a B-26 bomber
commander.

After World War II, he returned to college and graduated from Montana
State University, majoring in electronics and physics. He was employed
as an electronics engineer with the National Bureau of Standards in
Gaithersburg, MD (now NIST), until retirement.

Frank was a member of the Moto Guzzi Motor Club, and a colonel in the
Confederate Air Force, Stars and Stripes wing, in Frederick. He was also
a member of the B-26 Marauder Historical Society and the Experimental
Aircraft Association.

He was a volunteer at Greenbriar Elementary School in Washington County,
and a former volunteer at Monocacy Elementary School in Frederick.

Surviving are three children, six grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister."

Memorial services were to be held Saturday the 15th, but with the recent
heavy snowfall, it may have been postponed.

Memorial contributions may be made to Western Maryland Hospital Center,
1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Frank was one of the good guys - always ready to lend a helping hand and
offer encouragement to us "youngsters" new to the brand. Although I met
Frank in '84 after the purchase of my first Guzzi, I realize now how
little I really knew him. He was a regular at the MD/DC Breakfasts,
always in the company of a couple of his family members. It was several
years since he had ridden last, but still hoped to get his G5 and
Eldorado back in shape "one day".

Thanks to those of you who didn't know him for your patience and to
those who did, remember Frank as you ride the backroads and highways
this year. I know I will!

Charlie

p.s. - if anyone should want the obituary in it's entirety, email me and
I'll send it to you.
