I agree but that's not what the quote from Guzziology below said:
"Although
the V7 tank looks similar to the later tank of the later Loop-frame
models,
the later tank doesn't fit the V7". This I know to be untrue because I've
done it on my V700.

Jim

The real difference is the triple trees, the V700 had a steeper
angle(less

rake, shorter wheelbase)..so, you can use an Amb or Eldo tank on a V700
but
the V700 tank will not fit the others....

 As quoted from Guzziology:

"... Although the V7 tank looks similar to the later tank of the
later

Loop-frame models, the later tank doesn't fit the V7. The late frame
was

extended just behind the steering head, making it possible for the
wider

tank to fit. It's possible to relieve the upper triple clamp and the
instrument console to make clearance at some unknown reduction in
the

 integrity the fork's structure...."

Hmmm... Interesting... I used to put a 750 tank on my '67 700 when I
wanted
a little more gas capacity. It worked find except I had to put some
shims

under the coil to lower it so it would clear the bottom of the tank.
