Hi Bill,
The tank currently on my early '69 Ambo is the later type. Since the coil sits crossways on the '69 frame, it is spaced down for it to clear the bottom of the tank. I also have the original tank which is the same as a V700 tank - it fits with no problem other than the handlebar risers are a tad too close and will need to be spaced up about 2-3mm.
From what I gather, the later tank will fit on the first series (A12xxx serial numbers) Ambos but not the V700. The V700 tank may fit (don't know about mounting hole alignment) on later Loops but will interfere with the coil mounting tabs on the frame. As soon as I get the V700 I've been after, some parts swapping will be in order! Cheers,
