Hi Ian,
I removed the steering stem from the lower triple clamp on my project. Not sure if it's any easier either way to remove the bearing. The powdercoater will use his special masking tape that withstands high temps if you leave the stem in. If you remove it, make yourself a diagram of the fork lock slot and it's alignment relative to the triple clamp. Also make sure the 'coater knows you don't want powder in the hole for the stem (this applies everywhere in fact - write out a list if need be). Cheers,

Charlie

 Hey Guys,

Well....Fred and others were right on the money. Steering tube came out the
bottom with a little more persuation. Is it any wonder why Loopers love this
list so much? Thanks guys.

So now I am down to the "Building Blocks of Eldo Life". Basically the frame
and engine have been broken down to the bare essentials and I will begin to
resurrect this great machine.

One question for the Wise Men of the Loop Empire. It was suggested that I
not remove the lower nut on the steering tube. That will essentially leave
it in the lower triple tree. I would like to get that triple tree
powdercoated. Does it make sense to mask everything really well that I don't
want coated and give it to them? Suggestions?

By the way... the steering head bearings and races were near perfect.

Thanks again guys...I hope you all don't mind the questions.

Regards...Ian
