if you know the real keycode (i don't think it's on the key or the lock) a
decent locksmith will cut you one from the number with a computer key
cutter. 'course you probably not got the code unless you took the original
key to the locksmith & got him to decode it.
do the no's on the lock barrel & the key correspond with a key pattern?
fred, can you tell me how? would save a lot of trouble.
i'm going to read those beemer articles mentioned now to find out.

If you know the lock/key number, you can file your own, using the code on the lock. That's what I did, and it only took me two $1.50 blanks to get one right. Joe Polselli wrote:
