Mike:
The mechanical noise from your engine is more likely from the valves
tapping than from the fins ringing. As we in the Guzzi community like to
say, 'Loud valves save lives". Adjusted properly, they still make a bit
of noise, better than being quiet and having no clearance.

A question: although neither the honk of the uni-filtered carbs nor the bark of the rusty exhaust bother me, the mechanical noise of the motor is rather loud if I am wearing my open face helmet, especially when I put on the fairing. Guzziology mentions some rubber dampers that were used on small blocks to lessen the ringing of the cooling fins, and says that they can be fitted to big blocks as well. Has anyone tried these? Do they make much of a difference? -Mike (69 Ambo) |
