why not measure the depth of the hole in the transmission casting, then cut
the bolt you have to that length so it's flush with inside of case?
after all having it longer will give no benefit.

ps. i wouldn't trust it anyway. i'd helicoil it, but i'm paranoid.

Subject: A 5sp transmission question.....
Greetings all, again, I am trying to get my loop buttoned up for duty this season and I have a question. For some reason, the original trans drain plug is acting stripped. I can put a different bolt in and it snugs up perfect, but the new bolt is at least 1cm longer. My probes with a dowel found nothing the longer bolt would contact, does anyone know if I risk grevious injury to the tranny by fitting a longer drain bolt?? Something I missed? 74 4ls Police Special |
